Centennial Partners

In 2029, the Junior League of Tuscaloosa will celebrate its centennial. To celebrate 100 years of community impact, JLT is choosing a centennial partner each year leading up to 2029. Centennial partners are local organizations with whom JLT has a long-standing history and connection.

JLT is committing 100 volunteer service hours and $20,000 in financial support to each centennial partner.

About Tuscaloosa’s One Place (TOP)

Tuscaloosa’s One Place (TOP) is a family resource center supporting families in poverty across West Alabama. Its mission is to empower families to achieve self-sufficiency, prevent child abuse and strengthen communities. TOP offers a range of impactful programs from adult education and career development to parenting classes and after-school programs.

TOP was established in 1999 with the help of JLT and other organizations. Their services and impact have grown in almost three decades.

Our Work with TOP

JLT proudly supported TOP throughout the year in many ways. From our provisional members facilitating a career workshop for TOP clients to rolling up our sleeves to help clean, pressure wash and paint TOP’s offices to the establishment of the Family First Boutique — West Alabama’s first no-cost shopping experience providing baby necessities.

About Holt Elementary School

A part of the Tuscaloosa County School System, Holt Elementary School serves approximately 450 students from grades preK-5. With a student-to-teacher ratio of 17:1 and about 90% of students qualifying for free or reduced lunch, Holt is a special school with talented and caring educators dedicated to educating and empowering students to be highly skilled graduates and positive community contributors.

JLT has served as Holt’s Adopt-a-School partner for more than 30 years, providing countless service hours, fundraising drives and more to support Holt students, families, teachers and administrators.

Our Work with Holt Elementary

Members completed over 130 service hours for Holt alone in 2024-2025 from working at student events like the annual fall festival to providing meals and gifts for teachers during Teacher Appreciation week. A major focus was the reopening of the JLT Pillar Store. At the Pillar Store, students can cash in points they’ve earned by exhibiting character traits and values like responsibility for prizes. JLT also helped Holt secure a grant from the Nick’s Kids Foundation to go toward their outdoor classroom project.
